Steps
On Mac
- You can open Word, which has a blue “W” icon or a white “W” on a blue background depending on the version, click Open and select the text at this step.
- Right click ( Ctrl + Click) on the PDF file.
- Go to the Open With section.
- Click Preview .
- You should see a slider below the Format dialog box; Click and drag to the right to increase the JPEG image quality, to the left to decrease the quality. This slider is extremely handy if you want to reduce the image size (and reduce the image quality).
On Windows (7, 8, 10)
- You can open Word software, blue background icon with white “W”, then click on the document name in the “Recently opened” section.
- If you can’t take a picture, try pressing the “Print Screen” key harder and hold it for about half a second then release your hand.
- The “Print Screen” key can be abbreviated (eg “Prt Scr”, “Prt Sc”, etc.).
- You may have to scroll down to see the Word document depending on how many screenshots you took.
- Click Select on the Paint window.
- Click and drag the mouse pointer around the part of the image you want to save.
- Click Crop (to the right of Select ).
- To view the entire document, you need to minimize it by clicking the – button in the bottom right corner of the software window.
On Windows (XP and Vista)
- You can open Word software, blue background icon with white “W”, then click on the document name in the “Recently opened” section.
- The “Print Screen” key can be abbreviated (eg “Prt Scr”, “Prt Sc”, etc.).
- On Windows XP, click All Programs at the bottom of the menu, select Accessories , and then choose Paint in the dialog box that appears.
- Click on the rectangular icon located on the left side of the Paint window.
- Click and drag the mouse pointer around the part of the image you want to save.
- Click on Image at the top of the window.
- Click on Crop .
- To see the entire document, you need to minimize using the – button in the bottom right corner of the window.
- The dialog shows “PNG”.
Advice
- If you have Word on your phone, you can simply take a screenshot of the open document to save as an image file.
- Most sites that support JPEG files also support PNG (screenshot).
Warning
- Using Paint software may reduce file quality. This shouldn’t be too much of a problem if your document doesn’t contain a lot of images, though you won’t notice too much of a difference.
